Hélcio Milito - Imagem Barroca Vol.2 (1969)

CBS 37600

Contrary to the previously posted album, the situation on this one is not quite clear, at least neither to me, nor to the authors of Memoria Musical, who listed this album under  "intérprete não identificado"...

I won't make any assumptions as this parallel reality is already notorious for mistakes and blunt ignorance, but will leave the identification of musicians and all additional facts to those who know.

One fact though is clearly stated on the back cover: The artistic direction is, as on the previous album, done by Hélcio Milito:

01. Les Papillons (André Popp / Pierre Cour)
02. The Good The Bad And The Ugly (Ennio Morricone)
03. Por Alguns Dolares a Mais (For a Few Dollars More) (Ennio Morricone)
04. Mr. Spoons (Tyson)
05. O Tempo Vai Apagar (Paulo César Barros / Getúlio Cortes)
06. Foxtail (Lalo Schifrin)
07. Tomorrow's Love (Alvaro Covacevich / Bob Russell)
08. E Não Vou Mais Deixar Você Tão Só (Antônio Marcos)
09. Barbarella (Bob Crewe / Charles Fox)
10. Scarborough Fair (Paul Simon / Art Garfunkel)
Canticle (Cântico) (Paul Simon / Art Garfunkel)

Hélcio Milito - Os 6 Mais Numa Imagem Barroca (1968)

CBS 37546

In the newest package I found two albums with similar names and covers, both produced by Hélcio Milito.
Here is the first one, about which there is a note on the back cover mentioning Luis Eça and Radamés Gnattali as "arranjadores e solistas de cravo".

Still, no mystery here, except for the other performers on these compositions:

01. Carolina (Chico Buarque) Luis Eça / Radamés Gnattali
02. Eu E A Brisa (Johnny Alf)
03. Morena dos Olhos D'Água (Chico Buarque)
04. Realejo (Chico Buarque)
05. Travessia (Milton Nascimento / Fernando Brant)
06. Oferenda (Luis Eça / Lenita Eça)
07. O Circo (Sidney Miller)
08. Com Açúcar, Com Afeto (Chico Buarque)
09. O Cantador (Dori Caymmi / Nelson Motta)
10. Imagem (Luis Eça / Aloysio de Oliveira)
11. Lua Cheia (Chico Buarque / Toquinho)
12. A Praça (Sidney Miller)

NOT TOO MYSTERIOUS

especially as this album was posted on Loronix and Zeca's text about it may be read on Órfãos do Loronix.

Maurice Monthier e Sua Grande Orquestra Vol.3 (1970)

London/Odeon LLB 1058

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If you wonder about the New Year's start on the 14th of January, the explanation is simple: That's the date according to the Serbian, Russian etc calendar.

If you wonder now why I have not written Happy New Year using Cyrillic letters, the explanation is also simple: I have still not figured out how to install the language bar in my newly installed version of Ubuntu Studio O.S.

If you wonder who Maestro Maurice Monthier might be, the explanation is not so simple: I do not know much about him, except that his listed discogaphy consists of a series of around 8 career albums with the same title but with a different volume number.

If you wonder how Maurice's performance sounds, the answer is simple: Give these songs a listen and judge for yourself:

01. Ti Voglio Tanto Bene (Ernesto de Curtis / Domenico Furnó)
02. Airport Love Theme (Alfred Newman / Paul Francis Webster)
03. Marie Jolie (Evanghelos Papathanassiou / B. Bergman)
04. Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head (Burt Bacharach / Hal David)

Barbara - EP (2010, a parallel reality)

МИР БОЖЈИ, ХРИСТОС СЕ РОДИ!

Желим свима који данас славе да Божић проведу у миру, здрављу, радости и весељу.

I still have not managed to buy a new PC (most of the shops are closed because of Christmas holidays and the employees in those that have been open yesterday and today act as if they are absolutely not interested in selling anything) so I have to check my mail and make an eventual post from other people's computers, I just remembered that some time ago I have uploaded on Deposit an EP with music completely unusual for Parallel Realities (although found in a parallel reality).

Confusing? Yes it is and it will be more confusing for you after you have downloaded and listened to the two selected tracks included.

From my eccentric, Serbian point of view, this is, apart from great artists' from the previous century continuation of their art in the 21 century, the first new, contemporary music done with passion, feeling, rhythm, general joy of living and singing, erotic and masterfully composed and sung by the charming singer from Congo, Вarbara Kanam.

Enjoy the romantic and passionate Jardin d'amour and the ecstatic and hypnotic Si - Si plus the incredible politeness of Barbara crediting the musicians participating on this (studio) recording by name, mixed into the music as part of the texts with some phrases sung in French but mostly in another (beautiful) language unknown to me (Swahili ?):

1. Jardin d'amour (Вarbara Kanam)
2. Si - si (Вarbara Kanam)

Nicanor Teixeira - O Violao Brasileiro de Nicanor Teixeira (1977)

Private production (no label)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

At the start of 2015 there are good news and not so good news in this parallel reality.

The good news is that I am able to present you with a rarity out of our friend Stu Blagden's private collection: Violão player Nicanor Teixeiria's LP produced as a limited series private release from 1977. About him and his music there are two texts on the back cover, one by Herminio Bello de Carvalho and the other by Turibio Santos, which I recommend reading.

The not so good news (from my point of view) is that my PC hopelessly crashed at a time where all services and shops are closed because of a short New Year's holiday which will, as usual merge with, the one happening in a few days because of Christmas.
It all means that I can not access my hard discs and the only post which I could make is the one I am doing right now, thanks to the fact that Stu sent me the tracks and cover scans by mail, so I downloaded them again from Gmail to this computer which not mine.
In short: There will be no posts in the next (I hope just a few) days.

Enjoy:

Clarinetinho - Saudoso Toda A Vida (1966)

Fantasia/Philips FLP 2034

Clarinete player Netinho "Clarinete" accompanied by Os Cinco Boêmios for the first time with a career album (his first out of at least four) on Parallel Realities. Up to now he has been presented in this parallel reality only as sideman on various recordings.

My first impression before listening to this album was that Os Cinco Boêmios must be a vocal group, (contrary to Nethinho, they are just mentioned in the text on the back cover) but they are not. Their names are unknown but you may easily find out which instruments they are playing by listening to:

01. Carrossel (Netinho)
02. Alma Em Adoração (D. R.)
03. Nada Além (Custódio Mesquita / Mário Lago)
04. Samba no Escuro (Darci Barbosa)
05. Sertão do Meu Amor (Netinho)

Poly - Debut (1966)

EPIC BN-26193

Thanks to Stu Blagden, our friend from England, I am able to present a rarity by Poly (famous for his Hawaiian guitar playing) where he plays the classical bossa nova style guitar.

Note that the title Debut does not mean that it is Poly's first album, but it is, I believe, his US debut described on the front cover as The Exciting Premiere of the Brazilian Guitar Virtuoso Poly (released by Epic in 1966?).

Stu could not tell me the names of the musicians backing Poly, but he included the track list together with the names of the composers:

01. Um Punhadinho de Estralas (Mario Albanese)
02. A Brazilian In New York (O. Izar)
03. E Luxo Só (Ary Barroso)
04. O Caminho das Estrelas (Mario Albanese / C. Pereira)
05. Em Meus Braços... A Ilusao (Mario Albanese)
06. Brazilian Summer (M. Vaughan)
07. Sonhando Azul (Mario Albanese / C. Pereira)
08. Maria Ninguem (Carlos Lyra)
09. Canção de Poly (Z. de Mello)

SOUND EDIT by Edson Mendes:

There was a problem with the edition of tracks 9 and 10: track 9 is complete but it contains part of track 10, and track 10 is missing its initial part.
So, I fixed this problem and also remastered all tracks, as they had a very long initial silence (for my taste), and also removed some noise from the original long-play:

Orquestra Som Bateau - Top Hits Vol.1 (1966)

Polydor LPNG 4122

Although the Orquestra Som Bateau has a quite prominent discography counting at least 20 career albums (of which this one is the first, as it is also the first of their Top Hits series of four), this is my first encounter with their music, which is clear para dançar, obviously performed and recorded to provide a good atmosphere for dancing and night clubbing in general.

There is a short text about their music on the back cover but Polydor does not mention any names of the performers.

Cool, straightforward sounds and rhythms on:

01. Les Cornichons (Nino Ferrer / J. Booker)
02. Les Marionettes (Christophe)
03. Monsieur Cannibale (Gérard Gustin / Maurice Tézé)
04. Whipped Cream (Creme Batido) (Naomi Neville)

MORE MYSTERIES SURROUNDING THIS LP by Frank-Oliver:
This record is a mystery. I first heard the original LP, the same version presented here, just guitar with rhythm section. Later this was presented by Zeca at Loronix with the very same cover, but three songs are different and the others have very different arrangements using a full conjunto behind Hugo Luiz guitar.

THE MYSTERY REVEALED by Anonymous:
According to information about the same Hugo Luiz quoted on Martoni's blog, this album was recorded in 1965 and after many use, it's matrix has been broken. As the obscure record company didn't have a copy of the matrix, the album was re-recorded with new arrangements and 4 bonus tracks.

Orquestra Mista de Boleros - Vol.2 (1963)

Musicolor/Continental MLP 9090

Orqestra Mista de Boleros presented tonight is unknown to me. All I know is that their discography consists of of two albums equally named of which this one is the volume 2.

The classical boleros are masterfully performed and the complete LP is pleasant, cool and has a nostalgic flair which is a combination not everyone is able to achieve, so I suspect that an otherwise renowned maestro has produced it with his orquestra renamed especially for recording these two albums...

If someone knows more about it all, I will be happy to add his information to this post.

While waiting for the one that knows, enjoy the enchanting sound of:

01. Solamente Una Vez (Agustín Lara)
02. Amor (Gabriel Ruiz / Ricardo Lopes Mendez)
03. Dos Almas (Don Fabian)
04. Que Te Vaya Bien (Federico Baena)

Os Pequenos Cantores da Guanabara - Gosto do Rio (1965)

Philips P 632.763 L

For today's second promised album the same text as on the previous post applies, except that on Gosto do Rio children are singing for children and their parents. If I remember well the times when I was a child, my impression was that we, the children, were generally more attracted to music performed by adults, while our parents were melting in pleasure while children were singing, playing instruments or acting in movies.

Anyway, regardless of your current age, you will probably enjoy:

01. Eu Gosto do Rio (João Bedesque)
02. Esputinique Ai Li Ai Lô (Edith Serra)
03. Favela do Pasmado (Edith Serra)
04. Poliana (Zil Mac)
05. Terra Virgem (Vicente Celestino / Mário Rossi)
06. Marchinhas de Ontem:

O Teu Cabelo Não Nega (Raul Valença / João Valença / Lamartine Babo)
Periquitinho Verde (Antônio Nássara / Sá Róris)
      Linda Morena (Lamartine Babo)
07. Um Carnaval na Primavera (Heitor dos Prazeres)
08. Estórias do Vovô (Edith Serra)

Leo Peracchi e Sua Orquestra - Walt Disney Na America do Sul (1958)

Odeon MOFB 3046

Today I have the pleasure to present two albums, both of which could (conditionally) be labeled as music for children.
The first one is Walt Disney Na America do Sul with tracks that, were it not for the Três Caballeros on the front cover, could be passed as music for adults (although not for the "adults only" public). Brilliantly performed by adults: Léo Peracchi e Sua Orquestra (with a little help from Lenita Bruno).

I have enjoyed it all as much as I still enjoy Donald Duck cartoons.

I assume that these compositions were recorded as soundtrack for the South American languages version of Disney's movies:

01. Os Quindins de Iaiá (Ary Barroso)
02. Saludos Amigos (Alô Amigos) (C. Walcott / Ned Washington / Vrs. Aloysio de Oliveira)
03. Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso)
04. Lake Titicaca (C. Walcott)
05. Apanhei-te Cavaquinho (Ernesto Nazareth)
06. Três Caballeros (Esperón / Cortazar)
07. Tico-Tico No Fubá (Zequinha de Abreu)
08. Você Já Foi À Bahia? (Dorival Caymmi)
09. Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso)
10. Jesusita En Chihuahua (E. H. Plumb)
11. Solamente Una Vez (Agustín Lara) Léo Peracchi / Lenita Bruno
12. El Gaúcho Goofy (E. Plumb)

COMMENT by Anonymous:
I have both versions and just watched both films on DVD. This CD has Portuguese language versions of the Latin flavored songs from the films. The songs and incidental music however have the same orchestrations. So they sound almost identical, except that there is really bad distortion at times on this CD, and they over did the noise suppression just a bit, so the highs are dull and almost muddy. Other than that, there's no reason to buy it if you already have a good sounding release in English, unless you have Spanish or Portuguese speaking people in your family.
