EP Musidisc LPM 12014
Looks like Toni Vestane (or Tony Vestane, as his name is written on the cover) has more up his sleeve than expected:
Like this unlisted EP, just received from Edson Mendes, containing, besides the standard four tracks, also a bonus one, included by Edsom from Ribamar & Zitto Righi's 1962 LP by Musidisc.
That album by Ribamar and Zito is an all time favorite at my place, but I never checked who exactly is singing on Ai de mim...
On this EP there is no dilemma who is singing these compositions:
01. Depois do carnaval (Paulo Silvino / Wilson Tirapelli)
02. Deixa a nega gingar (Luiz Claudio)
03. Toma lá, dá cá (Toni Vestane)
04. Nós e o mar (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
05. Ai de mim (bonus track) (Capiba)
UNEXPECTED APPEARANCE OF THE EP
Créditos: Edson Mendes
JUST FOR THE RECORDS by Brazilliance:
This recording of "Toma Lá Dá Cá" was first issued
in 1961 as track # 10 on Zito Righi's album "O Sax de Ouro" which also
featured guest vocals by Francineth, Silvio Cézar and Pedrinho
Rodrigues.
It's a pity that Toni Vestane engaged himself more in producing other artists music than making a few more records of his own.

Carolina Cardoso de Menezes - Um Mundo de Musicas (1960)
Odeon MOFB 3192
Famous piano player Carolina Cardoso de Menezes was featured in this parallel reality with only two compositions on two various artists albums. The main reason for it was that my collection of her music has been downloaded from other blogs.
Anyway, here she is finally with a career album, her twelfth from altogether (at least) seventeen.
On this album, produced by Maestro Lindolfo Gaya, she is interpreting music from all over the world in her specific way:
01. Chinatown My Chinatown (W. Jerome / J. Schwartz)
02. El Dia Que Me Quieras (Carlos Gardel / Alfredo Le Pera)
03. Auf Wiedersehen (E. Storch)
04. Mamma (Cesare Andrea Bixio / Bruno Cherubini)
05. Andalucia (Ernesto Lecuona)
06. Noites de Moscou (Vassily Solovyov-Sedoy)
07. Singin' In The Rain (Nacio Herb Brown / Arthur Freed)

Luiz Americano - Chora Saxofone (1958)
RCA Victor BBL 1005
The other (first) career album by sax player and composer Luiz Americano (with regional) completes his discography consisting (as far as I know) of two Lp records.
Worth mentioning is, by the way, Elmo Barros' long and informative text about Luiz on the back cover.
Worth mentioning is also that Luiz Americano's second career album has been posted more than a year ago in this parallel reality and the link still works.
So do the following compositions:
01. Lágrimas de Virgem (Luiz Americano)
02. Numa Seresta (Luiz Americano)
03. Suely (Eduardo Patané)
04. Léa (Luiz Americano)
05. Assim Mesmo (Luiz Americano)

George Kenny - Uma Noite No Beguin (1956)
Odeon MODB 3051
About George Kenny presented now for the first time on Parallel Realities I can tell you only a few facts:
1. George Kenny plays organ
2. He was an Argentinian who settled down in Brazil.
3. He had a steady job playing in the Boite Beguin.
4. This 10' Lp is his first career album out of altogether two, the other, also released in 1956 as a 10', named Boas Festas.
Also an impression by Carlos Machado, found on the back cover:
"George Kenny é nos dias presentes considerado um dos maiores organistas do mundo."
One of the best, or not one of the best, that is now the question and you may answer it to yourself, of course after listening to:
1. Holiday For Strings (David Rose)
2. Guacira (Hekel Tavares / Joracy Camargo)
3. Laura (David Raksin / Johnny Mercer)
4. Apanhei-te Cavaquinho (Ernesto Nazareth)
5. Andalucia (Ernesto Lecuona)
6. Chuá, Chuá (Pedro de Sá Pereira / Ari Pavão)
7. All The Things You Are (Jerome Kern / Oscar Hammerstein II)
8. Liza (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin / Gus Kahn)
The musicians accompanying George are Brazilians.

Abel Ferreira e Seu Conjunto - Jantar Dancante (1958)
Copacabana CLP 11065
I must confess that Abel Ferreira's first album Acariciando is an absolute hit at my place since I received it from Pedro & 300discos and burnt it to disc. Checking once more his discography and my collection I realized that I am missing his second career album Jantar Dançante No 1 and looked up if I can find it somewhere on the net, only to realize that Augusto TM has posted it on his legendary Toque, which he has unfortunately closed in the meantime, which mens that somebody who is visiting Parallel Realities must have downloaded it from Toque and have it in his collection.
So I added it to my Santa Claus list.
One minute later, I checked my mail and found the newest package sent by Pedro & 300discos. and found it there.
Coincidence or more than that?
Unimportant, relax, enjoy, dine or dance to:
01. I Only Have Eyes For You (Harry Warren / Al Dubin)
02. É Bom Parar (Rubens Soares / Noel Rosa)
03. Baião no Deserto (Abel Ferreira / José Menezes de França)
04. Bobo Alegre (Abel Ferreira)

Pitanga Faz Confusao no Choro (1970)
Tropicana/CBS 01011
I have received complaints that there is not enough confusion in this parallel reality, so I even planned to create some additional.
Fortunately, the current package received from Pedro & 300discos relieved me from this assignment.
This weekend's confusion will not be created by amateurs like myself as we now have a professional doing the good work:
Clarinete player Pitanga, encountered for the first time several posts ago (as the title says) creates confusion in Choro.
He is not alone in his quest. The complete confusion makers' list counts eight names:
Pitanga (Clarinete)
Roró e Jairo (Violão)
Toco Preto (Cavaquinho)
Amaro (Baixo)
Inácio (Pandeiro)
Carlinhos e Julio (Ritmo)
Choro and confusion fans will rejoice while listening to:

Eugenio e Seu Quarteto - O Sucesso e Outras Bossas (1966)
Odeon MOFB 3481
The appearance of to me completely unknown musicians with only one recording continues with today's premiere of piano player Eugênio Oscar Galende performing international standards accompanied by a conjunto.
Only three of the musicians are mentioned by name on on the back cover.
Eugênio Oscar Galende (Piano)
Tião Marinho (Contrabaixo)
Reisinho (Bateria)
As the great Tião Marinho has been noticed playing Contrabaixo on a large number of recordings, I just checked if he has, maybe, recorded something like a solo album but in vain. The nearest that he got to that goal has been a membership in the Chorinhos da Pessada on their only album, already published on Parallel Realities.
Now relax and enjoy:
01. The Shadow Of Your Smile (Johnny Mandel / Paul Francis Webster)
02. All My Loving (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
03. La Playa (J. V. Wetter)
04. Somehow It Got To Be Tomorrow (Today) (Estelle Levitt / Kenny Karen)
05. Love Letters (Victor Young / Edward Heyman)
06. A Hard Day's Night (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
07. Il Mondo (Jimmy Fontana / Carlo Pes / Gianni Meccia)

08. The More I See You (Harry Warren / Mack Gordon)
09. And I Love Her (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
10. Girl (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
11. I'm Happy Just To Dance With You (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)

Conjunto Ritmos Ok - Ritmos Ok (1962)
Copacabana CLP 11267
Conjunto Ritmos Ok presented for the first time on Parallel Realities is, as far as I could find out, probably also the last time on Parallel Realities, as this seems to be their only recording.
As you might have guessed, I have never before heard of them, neither anything played by them, so, as not to be caught in blunt ignorance again, I'd rather point to the linear notes written by José Augusto Machado, which, unfortunately could not have been completely reconstructed on the back cover which was partially damaged.
The band consists of:
Walter Arid (Vibrafone, Piano, Arranjos)
Venceslau (Acordeom)
Ditinho (Ritmo)
Maurício (Sax baritono e alto)
Aurélio (Sax tenor)
Augusto (Bateria, Timbales)
Criso (Piston)
Tião (Contrabaixo)
Waldir Mussi e Jairo Martins (Crooner e Ritmo)
Luis (Guitarra)
Performing:
01. The Man With The Golden Arm (Elmer Bernstein / Sylvia Fine)
02. Peixinho (Vica / Francisco Basílio) com Waldir Mussi
03. Amor de Reveillon (Vica / Walter Arid) com Waldir Mussi
04. Dans Mon Île (Henri Salvador)
05. O Samba Brasileiro (Claribalte Passos)
06. Las Secretarias (Pepe Luis) com Jairo Martins
07. The Twist (Hank Ballard)

DAS IST WALTER by Frank-Oliver:
Walter Arid was also the head of Conjunto OK (OK! Samba, RGE 1964) and Som Okey Five (RGE 1969)
P.S. I just received a reconstructed cover with completely legible back cover text from Edson Mendes, so I added it to the zip and re-uploaded it
REVIEW by Francisco Miranda:

Leoncio - Da-me Tuas Mao
Musicolor MLP-9.088
Piston player Leoncio Mendes is a musician who was completely unknown to me until I fished his Lp out of the current package sent to us by Pedro & 300discos, read the track list on the back cover, noticed all four advertisements for other releases by MusiColor and found the following sensational facts:
1. Leoncio Mendes plays piston and is accompanied by orchestra
2. The compositions performed are classified as Boleros
3. Artistic direction is by Diogo Mulero (Palmeira)
I must also confess that all net searches failed miserably
Luckily, listening to the compositions was helpful:
01. Crucificado (Francisco Yoni / Edmundo Arias)
02. Um Cantinho Para Dois (Daniel Magalhães / José F. M. de Assis)
03. Eu... Te Amo (Paulo Augusto / Archimedes Messina)

Quarteto Monte Carlo - Drink Musical (1960)
Prestige DLP 1015
Quarteto Monte Carlo has created a pleasant impression with their first LP, so out of the just arrived package from Pedro & 300discos, I have decided to post it as first.
Unfortunately, if some pleasant surprise does not jump out of the dark, it completes their discography, consisting of only 2 career albums.
The gambling or other activities background music continues with:
01. Noites de Moscou (Vassily Solovyov-Sedoy)
02. Concerto D'autunno (Camillo Bargoni / Danpa)
03. La Violetera (José Padilla / Eduardo Montesinos)

Orquestra Moderna de Camara - Brasil Bossa Nova (N/D)
Nilser NS 1006
Orquestra Moderna de Camara has been posted somewhere on the net before, as I remember seeing this cover, but can not remember when and where.
Anyway, as far as I know, this is their only album and they have also released a compacto duplo.
Their premiere on Parallel Realities is, as you could guess, accompanied with no fact or relevant information at all.
The linear notes by Sebastião Fonseca, explain a lot about Bossa Nova and inform us that Luiz Bonfá, Tom and Vinicius, Dolores Duran and others, are principle Bossa artists, but (probably because of my poor understanding of Portuguese) I found nothing about the Orquestra Moderna de Camara.
On the other hand, ten medleys speak more than ten thousand Dollars:
01. Solução (Raul Sampaio / Ivo Santos)
Dizem Por Aí (Manoel da Conceição / Alberto Paz)
02. Chega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
O Menino Desce o Morro (Vera Brasil / De Rosa)
03. Idéias Erradas (Ribamar / Dolores Duran)
Chora Tua Tristeza (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
04. Na Cadência do Samba (Ataulfo Alves / Paulo Gesta)
Leva Meu Samba (Ataulfo Alves)
05. Meditação (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
Este Seu Olhar (Tom Jobim)
06. Samba de Uma Nota Só (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
Desafinado (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
07. Manhã de Carnaval (Luiz Bonfá / Antônio Maria)
A Felicidade (Tom Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes)
08. Samba Triste (Baden Powell / Billy Blanco)
O Barquinho (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
09. Menina Moça (Luis Antônio)
Mulher de Trinta (Luis Antônio)
10. Mulata Assanhada (Ataulfo Alves)

MORE ABOUT ORQUESTRA MODERNA DE CAMARA by Fausto Neves:
This disc is the only one of this orchestra, which in fact is not a “modern camera orchestra”
The truth is that it is a group of "bossa nova" music, with the addition of string instruments.
And with very good Brazilian musicians.
The linear notes by Sebastião Fonseca does not explain much and there is
much more text on the technical quality of the recording
Artistic direction - Radames Gnattali
Radames Gnattali - piano
José Menezes - guitar;
Chiquinho - accordion;
Pedro Vidal Ramos - bass;
Luciano Perrone - percussion;
Irani Pinto - 1st violin;
Copinha - flute and piccolo;
Marcello Pompeu Filho - 2nd violin;
Iberê Gomes Grosso - cello.;
The incredible thing is that neither on the Radamés Gnattali site nor on Ricardo Cravo Albin Dictionary of Brazilian Popular Music, this record does not appear as a work of Radamés Gnattali.
Listening to it, there is no doubt that this is another magnificent work of that master.

The record was a tribute for the 90th birthday of the great Brazilian painter Candido Portinari (1903-1962) and some compositions have the same name as Portinari’s paints. For example: O Sonho (The Dream), Um Baile na Roça (A Rural Ball), Namorados (Valentine):

Steve Bernard e Seu Conjunto - Aqui - Compacto Duplo
Odeon EP-20231
Some time ago I was contacted by Steve Bernard's daughter Sandra Bernhardt, who was pleased to find here the posts about her father and promised to send me the recordings I did not have. Also she was so kind to write a text about her father, clearing some misinformation about him which were also published at the usual hub for distorted facts: Parallel Realities.
Here is Sandra's integral text covering the so far undisclosed parts of Steve Bernard's life and history:
Steve Bernard was born in Brasov, Romenia (Roumania).
He was a Jew but before getting married to my mother, Eva, he converted to Christianity (Catholic). They got married on Dec, 19, 1954 in a Catholic church named Nossa Senhora da Paz, in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Eva, was a very famous and gracious dancer, known as Eva Lanthos. She was born in Budapest, Hungary.
As far as I know, he began to play classical music very early, in Brasov, Roumania (not in Vienna).
At the age of 18, he was awarded in several Competitions in Vienna, played piano in cinemas and with some singers like, Lilly Fayol, Gina Liano and Arthur Allam. A few years later he had his Band with presentations in Bucharest, Roumania.
Moved to Paris to study at Sorbonne (Philosophy and Music), made tours in England and Canada before coming to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1952, after Paul Péri's invitation.
Paul Péri, was a famous French actor / singer. He invited Steve to play at the Golden Room, Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio in 1952. Some days later Mauricio Lanthos and Waldir Calmon invited him to play the Hammond B3 Organ, recently bought, at Arpège (nobody knew how to manage the Organ, just Steve!) He needed to live in a tropical city in order to feel better from his constant pains (MD recommendation) and decided to live in Rio.
The next step was the his first record - Steve Bernard e sua Arte - produced by Sinter in 1954 and the second one in 1955., formed his band and .... you have all information about him after that...
Tracks:
1. To The End of The Earth (Joe Sherman / Noel Sherman)
2. Sonoroso (K.Ximbinho / Del Loro)
3. Suas Mãos (Ayres da Costa Pessoa "Pernambuco" / Antônio Maria)

The bad news is that his other album Quando A Noite Acontece (1963), posted less than two years ago you may only admire by looking at the front cover, as the file containing his music has been deleted from server and I added the horrifying DOWNLOAD YESTERDAY advice next to the text previously leading to Depositfiles.

Mario de Azevedo - Subindo Ao Ceu (1960)
Sinter SLP 1789
The great piano player Mário de Azevedo has released an uncountable number of 78 Rpm recordings starting from 1943 and at least 8 Lps, yet today is the first time he is appearing on Parallel Realities with his last career album released in 1960 by Sinter.
A poetic text on the back cover by Fernando Lôbo explains more about his music, and the track list shows some great composers (just google Viúva Guerreiro and see when her compositions were composed).
Cool down from yesterday's Pixinguinha heat with delicate sounds of Mário's solo piano interpreting:
01. Subindo Ao Céu (Aristides Manuel Borges)
02. Quando Penso Em Ti (Viúva Guerreiro)
03. Saudade (Graça Guardia)
04. Supremo Mestre (Viúva Guerreiro)
05. Folhas ao Vento (Milton Amaral)
06. Flutuando (Aurélio Cavalcanti)
07. Rosa (Pixinguinha)
08. Só Tu Não Sentes (J. F. Fonseca Costa "costinha")
09. Cascata de Lágrimas (Moacir Braga)
10. Nas Asas De Um Sonho (Carlos T. De Carvalho)
11. Ao Cair da Tarde (Pelagio Valentim)
12. Quanto Dói Uma Saudade (Mariana da Silveira)

Guerra Peixe - Festa de Ritmos (1956)
Copacabana CLP 3026
Here is the second promised ultra-rarity sent to us by friend Fausto Neves:
The first career album (a 10' Lp) of Maestro Guerra Peixe bears the same name as the radio broadcast of Radio of São Paulo (1956) which was produced, directed and presented by Guerra-Peixe.
This album was two years later released by Decca France as:
Rythmes brésiliens / documents sonores recueillis par Max de Rieux au Brésil ???(© 1958)!!! Decca – France
Rythmes brésiliens, Bibliothèque nationale de France.
As you can see Max de Rieux went as far as to copyright other people's work in an arrogant colonial manner which throws a dark shadow upon him, the Bibliothèque nationale de France and Decca France.
Fausto Neves has included two documents (in English) inside this package, one with detailed explanations about this release, each song and another one about his favourite track and Rabeca as an instrument, which I recommend reading.
Here are just the basic facts:
Orchestra, choir and arrangements are under the direction of Guerra Peixe.
Lado A (Fxs. 1 - 4):
Vocal: Gilberto Alves, Sivuca, Leny Eversong e Coro
Instrumentais: José Passidono (Flautim)
Lado B (Fxs. 5 - 8):
Vocal: Catulo de Paula, Gilberto Alves, Nuno Roland e Coro
The tracks are:
1. Irmão Irmão (Tradicional / Rec. Rossini Tavares de Lima) Tambu
2. Jornada de Lapinha (Tradicional / Rec. Guerra Peixe) Pastoril
3. Caboclinhos (Guerra Peixe) Caboclinho
4. Nego Bole Sete (Guerra Peixe) Maracatu
5. De Viola a Rabeca (Guerra Peixe) Cantoria
6. Jurupanã (Autor Desconhecido) Coco
7. Eu Sentei Praça (Guerra Peixe / Manoel Antônio Franceschini) Jongo
1ª estrofe: Tradicional-Rec. Manoel Antônio Franceschini
2ª estrofe: Guerra Peixe)
8. Uniká-de-xangô (Tradicional / Rec. Guerra Peixe) Jongo
P.S. I just received from Fausto Neves also the Decca labels so I updated the package by adding them:

ABOUT NORBERTO MACEDO by Nilton Maia:
The guitarist Norberto Macedo was my guitar teacher during many years and my friend since 1965. He was a great musician, besides very good composer and teacher. Unfortunately he died four years ago (in august 27, 2011).
He had three LPs, three CD’s and one K7 launched, all of them of high quality, besides a guitar method published. One of the LPs was dedicated to Villa-Lobos’s guitar music and was considered one of the best interpretations of this music by whom that had the pleasure to listen it, including some music critics. So, your post can be considered a tribute to Norberto.
If you want to know a little more about Norberto access this blog, please:
http://www.geocities.ws/norbertomacedo/pindex.html
He also can be watched in Youtube by this link, playing a “choro” composed for his son Leonardo, when he was a child. In this vídeo Norberto makes a tribute to Leonardo’s memory because he died some years before the video, at the age of 32.

Quincas e Os Copacabanas - Das 11 As 4 (1959)
Odeon MOFB 3062
Tenor sax player Al Quincas with and without Os Copacabana can be found in this and the other reality, but the Lp I have the chance to present now, I can not remember having even seen anywhere before.
In the linear notes written by Lucio Rangel you may read all you wanted to know about Coleman Hawkins but were afraid to ask and he even adds a few lines about Al Quincas and this album, so I suggest (as usual in such cases) to read it.
Anyway, para dançar is my choice of instrumental music, unfortunately almost impossible to find performed nowadays, so I suggest (as usual in such cases) to enjoy it preferably on the dance floor, but an easy chair and speakers will also do the job needed to enjoy:
01. O Apito no Samba (Luiz Bandeira / Luis Antônio)
02. Rico Vacilon (Rosendo Ruiz)
03. Tenderly (Walter Gross / Jack Lawrence)
04. Vai Astor (Vadico)
05. Torero (Renato Carosone / Nisa)
