Zezinho - Portela - Compacto (1963)

Parallel Realities Studio 2013

I just realized that the link to this compacto points to long time ago liquidated Rapidshare, so, instead of a simple link correction, I decided to repost it:

Lado A (1962):

A1. Sofrer Por Errar (Aniceto J. Andrade)
A2. Incrível Destino (S. Costa / Beatriz L. Silva)

Lado B (1963):

B1. Lá Vem Portela (Billy Blanco) com Côro Odeon

ZÉZINHO FROM ANOTHER REALITY

Os Grilos (N/D)

CID 14.012

There were occasions on which I could tell you very little about the artists presented here.
This time it is different: I can tell you absolutely nothing!
Except:
Os Grilos are for the first and last (?) time on Parallel Realities with their only (?) recording, released at an unknown date (?).
More than that would be guesswork like:
Hm... The cover design points to flower power & acid tests taking place at the end of the sixties and beginning of the seventies... etc, etc...

To be able to competently guess more, the way to take is to download the album and listen to:

01. Eu Também Quero Mocotó (Jorge Ben "Jorge Benjor")
O Cabeção (Roberto Corrêa / Sylvio Son)
02. Pimenta no Sagú (Orlandivo)
03. Airport Love Theme (Alfred Newman / Paul Francis Webster)
04. Oye Como Vá (Tito Puente)
05. Rainbow (William Campbell / Thomas McAleese)
06. Lei de Murici (J. Canseira / Leôncio)
07. Meu Laiá-Raiá (Martinho da Vila)

Rago e Seu Conjunto - Rago em Sonoramico (1960)

Continental LPP 3107

Antônio Rago for the first time in this parallel reality.
Everything that you might ask me is already answered in the linear notes written by Gióia Júnior, so I suggest reading it.
Of course, I will tell you something that Gióia could not possibly know at the time of writing the text: After this album, which is the fifth in his career albums line-up, he has released (at least) five more.

Which instrument he plays, I can not tell you, but you might easily guess it after taking a look upon the front cover.

Enjoy Antônio performing, together with his conjunto, his own compositions:

01. Jamais Te Esquecerei (Antônio Rago / Juraci Rago)
02. Folinha (Antônio Rago)
03. Mentiroso (Antônio Rago)
04. Mambo na Glória (Antônio Rago)
05. Se Ela Voltasse (Antônio Rago)
06. Chá-chá-chá (Antônio Rago)
07. Em Tuas Mãos (Antônio Rago / Ribeiro Filho)

ABOUT RAGO by Nilton Antonio Rodrigues Maia:
Antonio Rago was born in São Paulo (02/07/1916) and died in that same city in 24/01/2008 (91 years old). He was Italian immigrants’ son.
He composed more than 400 musics and was one of the responsible for the introduction of electric guitar in Brazil.
He began to play acoustic guitar when he was 14 years old, started to study classical guitar in 1933 and played with some of the great Brazilian singers as Silvio Caldas, Francisco Alves e Aracy de Almeida, besides produced radio programs and taught acoustic guitar.
His musical group (“regional”) ended in the 60’s and so, Rago started to play as a soloist and launched about ten LPs.
His greatest musical idol was Américo Jacomino (“Canhoto”) and he played and recorded many of his compositions.
Rago was the first guitar player to appear in the TV when it was created in the 50’s, in Brazil (“TV Tupi” – Rio de Janeiro).

Salvador Trio (1965)

Mocambo LP 40.284

Piano player and composer Salvador Silva Filho for the first time on Parallel Realities with his only (?), unlisted album, released in 1965 by Mocambo.
Fortunately Mocambo had the good idea to print on the inside sleeve a long and informative text about Salvador, the other two members of his trio, their music and the compositions performed, written by José Domingos Raffaelli, leaving not many question unanswered, so I highly recommend reading it, as much as I recommend to listen carefully to all the three musicians and the compositions they perform:

Salvador Silva Filho (Piano)
Edson Lobo (Contrabaixo)
Victor Manga (Bateria)

You will be rewarded with the cool and pleasant atmosphere surrounding:

01. Tematrio (Salvado Silva Filho)

Orquestra Som-Bateau - Top Hits No 4 (1968)

Polydor LPNG 44.016

The first album of the Top Hits series by Orquestra Som-Bateau was presented several years ago in this parallel reality and now is the time for the fourth.
No explanation on the cover about who, why, when or how, but it will not distract you from enjoying this para dançar release by Polydor.
Also don't worry, as the album was released back in '68 chances are that the lady on the cover is not tattooed and has washed away the painted decorations from her face and body at the end of the photo session.

Regardless if the lady is tattooed or painted, the compositions performed are:

01. Quando (Roberto Carlos)
02. Hello Goodbye (John Lennon / Paul McCartney)
03. Parole (D. Friggieri / Prestigiacomo)

Os Boemios de Paris (1962)

Musidisc Hi-Fi 2066

Os Boêmios de Paris, with their only album (?), for the first and last (?) time on Parallel Realities.
As you might have expected, Musidisc has not written a single word about the Bohemians, leaving us to guess who the mysterious musicians, hiding behind a name pointing to their repertoire, might be.

As also expected, the names of the compositions point to another beautifully different France, existing once upon a time without Disneyland, Hollande, Charlie Hebdo and their lookalikes:

01. Je T'aime Encore Plus (M. Micheyl)
02. Danse Avec Moi (Francis Lopez / André Hornez)

Tudo de Mim - Poemas e Cancoes de Jair Amorim (1964)

Copacabana CLP 11340

A various artists type of recording, on which various artists are performing compositions by the great Brazilian composer Jair Amorim mostly composing together with Evaldo Gouveia.
This tandem is one of my all time favourites, especially their Cantiga de Quem Está Só sung by Marisa Gata Mansa is an absolute highlight and have often played it over and over again after I heard for the first time (a long time ago).

Jair Pimentel - O Homem Show (1967)

Mocambo LP 40310

Jain Pimentel's latest career album, recorded in 1967, presenting, similar to his first one, his renditions of his compositions.
A nice text on the back cover, written by Mario Sabino, offers no more  sober facts than we already know from his previous albums presented not far away from here in this parallel reality, but explains his music best as can be done by words.
Of course, his music becomes, as expected, self-explaining the moment you turn on your speakers and listen to:

01. Pintinho na Tuba (Jair Pimentel)
02. Chá de Burro (Jair Pimentel)
03. Bicha de Rodeio (Jair Pimentel)

THE MILITARY DICTATORSHIP by Nilton Maia:
In that year (1968), the military dictatorship began to show its most horrifying face and the restrictions to the arts were wide, including the Popular Music, of course. But, as a paradox, it was a very rich musical period.
Concerning the track O General e o Muro, I'm quite sure that it was forbidden by the censorship authorities. Because of this, the music name is present on the cover of the album but absent from the record.

Lauro Miranda e Seu Conjunto (1958)

Discos Drink DF-LPA-13.003

It should be obvious by now that I have a special interest for the releases of Discos Drink, the label created, as any traveller through this parallel reality knows, by Djalma Ferreira promoting mostly his notorious Drink night club and featuring mostly himself and his conjunto.
Tonight, thanks to Pedro & 300discos I have the pleasure of presenting another one of the Drink releases, narrowing the number of the still not found ones to, as far as I know, only two.

Tonight's Drink release is piano player Lauro Miranda's only career album. Contrary to Miran Presley, playing piano on the previous Drink release, a mysterious personality, later identified as Djalma Ferreira himself recording under a false name, there is apparently no mystery about Lauro Miranda's identity as the back cover shows a clear portrait of him + Carlos Machado, the writer of the linear notes, has done a nice job writing all about him that you might want to know.

Whether convinced of Lauro's identity as Lauro or still suspicious, I suggest that you put this dilemma aside, make yourself a drink and enjoy:

1. My Funny Valentine (Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart)
Where Or When (Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart)
More Than You Know (Vincent Youmans / William Rose / Edward Eliscu)
2. Manhattan (Richard Rodgers / Lorenz Hart)
All The Things You Are (Jerome Kern / Oscar Hammerstein II)
Saturday Night (Sammy Cahn / Jule Styne)
3. Foi o Teu Olhar (Ubirajara Nesdan)
    Sax Cantabile (Armando Domínguez)
4. O Apito no Samba (Luiz Bandeira / Luis Antônio)
5. Cipolândia (Orlando Costa ''Maestro Cipó'' / Lauro Miranda)
6. The Ruby And The Pearl (Jay Livingston / Ray Evans)

7. Saudade (Lauro Miranda)

Bossa 4 - Repeteco (1967)

Equipe EQ 815

Bossa 4, presented for the first time in this parallel reality have, as far as I could find out, released two albums of which Repeteco is the first.
Their other album is called Repeteco Outra Vez and was recorded one year after.

The members of Bossa 4 are:

Carmindo (Guitarra, Voz)
Joy (Bateria, Ritmo)
Pedrinho (Contra-baixo)
Borginhos (Teclados)

A text on the back cover written by Anselmo Domingos is full of superlatives about the four, so might want to read it.
Also, the back cover shows a picture of the conjunto and, as everybody knows by now, one picture says more than a thousand words, so you might want to see it.

Also, one song explains music better than thousands of pictures, so you might want to listen to:

01. Vem Quente Que Eu Estou Fervendo (Carlos Imperial / Eduardo Araújo)
02. Coração de Papel (Sérgio Reis)
03. Uni-Du-Ni-Tê (Chico Feitosa / Nonato Buzar)

Milan Filipovic - Bronzani slon - Roman (2002)

ISBN 86 - 903071 - 0 - 9

Glavni likovi:

Nikola Pavlović, pisac dnevnika i glavni lik u romanu.
Danilo Pavlović, gospodar ostrva. Nikolin stariji brat.
Jennifer Wells, putnik kroz parallelne stvarnosti.
Carlos, senka.
Richard Duck, odbegli logoraš sa Aljaske. Multimilijarder.
Alice Highchurch, mlada Engleskinja. Izbeglica.
Charlotte Burton, starija rođaka Alice Highchurch.
Lara Connery, dama koja postoji iako ne postoji.
Tom Jeremis, holivudska filmska zvezda.
John Smith, rumunski režiser američkog porekla.
John McGuffin, američki konzul na Balkanu.
Justine McGuffin, Johnova mlada supruga.
Thelma Elfenbein, sekretarica američkog konzulata.
Sir Walter Hyde, irski bankar.
David Borman, legendarni danski detektiv.
Major Fraser, Bormanov dugogodišnji saradnik.

Relja Jović, inspektor policije.
Dr Frank Gerrow, lekar specijalista iz Hjustona i čuveni disident.
Radmila Kirić Kirić, inspektor policije

Slobodan S. Slobodan, eminentni novinar istraživač.

Recenzija:

Osmar Milani e Sua Orquestra - Baile dos Estados (1959)

Som SOLP 4.0045

Maestro Osmar Milani has been featured in this parallel reality on a joint venture with Morgana's Esta E Morgana, her first album, but so far not with a solo album although he has recorded at least 5.

The one presented tonight is his third, released by Copacabana, Beverley and Som.

All three edition's cover scans and labels are included in the zip file.
The Som front cover looks best (from my point of view) and therefore I have used it for decorating this post.

Regardless if you are scratching your head engulfed in dilemmas about who, when, what or why, I will not direct you to the linear notes, which are full of "Who has not heard the popular song ...?" and similar, explaining only why the text is unsigned.

I will redirect you to the  FICHA TECHNICA fine print at the bottom of the page instead, which clearly states that the Maestro is Astor Silva and that the musical direction is by Moacyr Silva.

The names of the musicians performing these compositions is, so far, a mystery:
