Everything you wanted to know about Steve Bernard and his music, but were afraid to ask and more (up to '54, of course) may be read on the back cover text written by  Jayme Negreiros.

O Grupo for the first time on Parallel Realities.

O Grupo (in this formation at least) has only this one album and one compacto in their discography but there were three other groups in Brazil with the same name, out of which one O Grupo with their only album released in 1968 for Odeon could, maybe be the initial O Grupo, consisting of 4 musicians) which got transformed and became another O Grupo with a different cast. The fact that leads to that conclusion is that a Jaime and a Maurício can be found in both O Grupos (rhythm and vocal).
Plus, the sond of both O Grupos is similar.

The remaining two O Grupos I will not mention further as the confusion is confusing enough as it is.

Eugene D'Hellemmes e Sua Orquestra - Requebrando (1957)

The French trombone and bass player, Eugène D'Hellemmes, whom we had the opportunity to enjoy in April this year, contrary to what Frank-Oliver would expect, has recorded another Brazil favoured LP (a 10') for Polydor, one year before the previously presented one.
This release is also arranged by Maestro Waldemiro Lemke.

By the way, I checked on Google Translate for the meaning of the word "Requebrando" and got two different translations, depending on the language this word is translated from:

Translated from Spanish: "Making love to her"
Translated from Portuguese: "Twisting"

EUGENE D'HELLEMMES IN SOUTH AMERICA by Frank-Oliver: Eugene D' Hellemmes came to South America during the second world war as a member of the Ray Ventura orchestra. This french orchestra, including the famous singer Henri Salvador, emigrated to South America from France and performed and recorded in Buenos Aires and Rio, often with spanish or portuguese vocals. After the war the orchestra returned to France. Some members stayed in South America. So does Eugene D`Hellemmes.

Sao Paulo Dixieland Band - Jazz Na Universidade (1964)

São Paulo Dixieland Band, presented now for the first time on Parallel Realities, consists of University students and was formed back in 1960 in order to play traditional jazz and they managed to become the best group in Brazil playing this kind of music...
I am afraid that this is their only career album, but, hopefully, I might be wrong again.

Almirante - A Maior Patente do Radio (1956)

Idol of Radio Almirante has been featured on Parallel Realities just once, with one composition included on a Carnaval compilation.

His recordings are numerous, counting more than a hundred records in the 78 rpm format, covering the period from 1929 to 1956.

This, only, career album, where he recorded for Sinter 8 of his greatest hits from his career, has at least four other re editions.

About the great Almirante you may read a text written by Mario Faccini printed on the back cover of this 10' LP.

Morgana's first career album, recorded in 1958, accompanied by Osmar Milani and his orchestra. Actually, Morgana is singing only on eight tracks, while four are instrumentals performed by Osmar Milani.

A traveler through realities existing parallel to the one we consider as the only one, brought back a souvenir, a compacto promo sung by Valéria and Steve Bernard and sent it to me, unfortunately, without a cover, a problem easily solved by taking a short trip to another reality similar to the one he visited. There the cover was found, but I must confess that it seems very familiar to me.

Conjunto Belsom for the first time on Parallel Realities with their (good sounding) only career album, recorded at an unknown date for Hot/Rioson.
The back cover offers, except for Sergio César, only the first names of the musicians, but fortunately, everybody knew and still knows all of them and all about them (except for me), so there was evidently no need for a full introduction.
The producer, Maestro João Negrão does have his full name displayed, so does Jocenio Corréa Coimbra, the author of the linear notes, whose text, containing information about the compositions, you may read after adding this album to your collection,

As far as I know, Hot’s subsidiary Riosom issued only from 1968 to 1969. André Popp’s Les Papillons is from 1968, hence, this album must have been published that year.

Similarly to the previous post, here we meet for the first time another "one recording only" piano player: Ernâni Turini, with his Momentos Dançantes released for Odeon back in 1959.

If you want to ask me anything about Ernâni Turini, I will redirect you to the back cover of this album where you can see him and the other three members of his conjunto on a photograph, but the text written by Zal Junior (or similar) is unfortunately mostly unreadable due to the bad condition of the cover, far beyond any restoration skills of Pedro or anybody else, up to the extent that I just hope that I have guessed the name of the author correctly.

Piano player Léo Jordan, including his alter egos, for the very first time in this parallel reality with his only (listed) recording, a career album in fact, recorded in 1962.

No additional information on the back cover this time, except for the usual promotional list of albums released by Som, so anything anyone might know about Léo Jordan would be highly appreciated and added to this post.

Although no proof of it, I strongly believe that there is a connection between Léo Jordan and Steve Bernard apart from the fact that Joab Teixeira is present also here, together with his choir, featuring, among others, also Carminha Mascarenhas.

Não posso deixar de ressaltar, que fiquei emocionado com a capa do mesmo, ao ver a foto da belíssima e talentosa atriz Irma Alvarez (já falecida), argentina de nascimento, mas brasileira de coração. Como ela era linda, no seu tempo de modelo e vedete, nos espetáculos do teatro de revista. Posteriormente, revelou-se uma atriz extraordinária e premiada, pelo seu desempenho no filme Porto das Caixas (1962) de Paulo César Saraceni, também, foi artista plástica nos seus últimos anos de vida, além, de ter sido sempre, uma mulher sensível, gentil, bem educada, enfim, um ser humano da melhor qualidade.

Incredible that Steve Bernard's career albums had (as far as I know) never been made available on net, untill recently Pedro & 300discos had the good idea to start sending them to us all.
The newest package, just rolling in as I write, contains even two, both released in 1957.

Fortunately the (Spanish) text on the back cover not only mentions Tamba Trio, but gives a text about each of all three members: Hélcio Milito, Luis Eça and Bebeto, event printing their complete names: Hélcio Paschoal Milito, Luis Mainzil da Cunha de Eça and Adalberto José de Castillo e Souza (Bebeto).

A compilation album of songs by the Conjunto Farroupilhas and
Trio Nagô, where each vocal group has it's side on this LP released by Rádio at a date which I could only guess.

While Conjunto Farroupilhas has been featured lately in this parallel reality, Trio Nagô has, apart from one song on the 20 Anos da Nacional (1956) posted in another reality about 3 years ago, their first appearance today.

There is not much that I know about Trio Nagô except that they consist of Mário, Evaldo and Epaminondas and that they have released at least 5 career albums in the period from 1956 to 1959 + 5 compactos / EPs and around 30 78 rpms, starting from 1953.

A surprise package sent by Edson Mendes arrived this morning in my mailbox: Aloísio Figueiredo's Bon Voyage, together with an accompanying text:

"This record has a special interest for me (besides the musical part), because the night club Bon Voyage was near from my old home and it is a beautiful building, projected by the Brazilian internationally known architect Oscar Niemeyer. It still exists, but now is not a night club anymore."

The promised album by The G/9 Group has just arrived from Moscow, so after the discussion about if it is the same Valéria, who is singing on Steve Bernard's Top Hit Party the one singing here, I have finally had the chance to compare.

Honestly speaking, just by listening I can neither claim that it is the same Valéria, nor that it is another singer with a similar name.
From 1960 to 1968 the Zeitgeist has deeply changed and the change affected all musical aspect including ways of singing, not to mention ageing ladies' voices.

Tico-Tico No Galho Seco (1963)

Cavaquinho player and composer Tico-Tico has his premiere on Parallel Realities with his only career album, recorded in 1963. As far as I could find out his discography consists, besides the LP presented, of an collaboration album with Altamiro Carilho recorded at an unknown date and two 78 rpms.

Banda Vila Rica for the first time on Parallel Realities with their, as far as I know, only album, recorded in 1958.

More about this release you may read on the back cover text written by Lúcio Rangel, where the most important fact (according to my poor knowledge of Portuguese) is that it is a group of professional musicians gathered together by Maestro Oswaldo Borba, while the orchestration has been done by captain Antônio Pinto Jr.

Looks like the comments under one of the previous posts caught the attention of our friend Edson Mendes, reminding him of an aquisition on a music fair: A compilation album of Valéria whose voice was the topic of some of the comments.

In short, when opening my mail this evening, I found a nice package waiting for me to download and I (as you might well imagine) did it immediately.

The compositions are collected from several EPs + the last four songs are from the Top Hit Party album, presented two days ago:

A 10' LP rarity by  João Leal Brito aka Britinho (not to mention his numerous other names), with two uninterrupted sides of pure samba. Needless to say that the package contains side A and side B plus all the compositions separated into individual tracks.

The music invites the listener to step on the dance floor and the front cover picture says the same. The back cover text even displays the names of the peformers and their respective instruments:

Steve Bernard com Orquestra e Coro - Top Hit Party (1960)

Steve Bernard has been presented in this reality on two compilation albums of the Discoteque Dancante series, but although he has recorded at least 12 career albums, this is his first career album presented here.

A short text under one of these two compilations, written by our friend Frank-Oliver, reveals that Steve was born 1915 in Romania, lived in Vienna and finally emigrated to Brazil. It also raises a strong suspicion about his name, as, although the Romanian border is less than 100 km away from Belgrade, I have never met or heard about a Romanian with even a similar name.

Frank-Oliver pointed out the fact that on Steve Bernard's album Ritmo Espetacular an interesting lady with the name of Valéria is singing, an information that also moved Steve's discography into the focus of my interest (incredible, but there it is).

An additional enquiery shows that Valéria is singing on at least three of his albums, among them on this one presented today.

Now, finaly, after listening to Top Hit Party, I am able to say:

She is interesting indeed, Frank!

Is this Valéria also singer on great G/9 LP "Brazil Now!" with Dom Salvador and Wilson das Neves? 

STEVE'S REAL NAME by Sandra Bernhardt: Seu nome era húngaro, István. Brassó era húngara até 1920 e passou a romena em 1920. Mudou o nome para Stephen ou Stephane com fins artísticos e depois no Brasil para Steve Bernard.
