Lord Astor e Seus Dixiedrools - Brasil em Ritmo de Charlston (1959)

Odeon MOFB 3113

I have no idea when or why Astor Silva has received the title of Lord from the British Queen, but there it is.

I have never before heard of his backing group called Dixiedrools but here they ar performing on this album from 1959 devoted to Charleston.

Neither could I imagine how Ary Barroso's Risque could be performed as a Charleston, but there it is.

Curious?

Listen to these tracks and you'll be pleasantly surprised:

01. Aquarela do Brasil (Ary Barroso)
02. Maracangalha (Dorival Caymmi)
03. Não Tenho Lágrimas (Max Bulhões / Milton de Oliveira)
04. Cidade Maravilhosa (André Filho)
05. Risque (Ary Barroso)
06. Carinhoso (Pixinguinha / João de Barro)
07. Na Baixa do Sapateiro (Ary Barroso)
08. Mamãe Eu Quero (Jararaca / Vicente Paiva)
09. Copacabana (João de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro)
10. Touradas Em Madri (João de Barro / Alberto Ribeiro)
11. No Tabuleiro da Baiana (Ary Barroso)
12. Ai Que Saudades da Amélia (Ataulfo Alves / Mário Lago)
